The
Statement of faith of GBI Antiokhia
We trust and accept that:
1.
The Bible is the inspired word of God that has been
revealed by the Holy Spirit. It consists of the Old
Testament and the New Testament and it is a means of
spiritual guidance for every believer. Ephesians 6:17;
Romans 1:16; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; 2 Peter 1:19.
2.
God, Jehovah is the one and only God. He is the Most
High, Everlasting, Powerful One and our Creator. The
Holy Trinity (God the Father, God the Son and God the
Holy Spirit) is three people in one - God (God the Father),
Jesus (God the Son) and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19;
Matthew 15:26; 1 John 5:7.
3.
Jesus Christ is the only begotten son, conceived by
the Holy Spirit and the child of Mary. Jesus was crucified
to death, entombed, and rose from the dead on the third
day. Following His resurrection He ascended to Heaven
and is now seated at the right hand side of God the
Father. Jesus is the Saviour of our life and our bridge
to God our Father. Galatians 4:4; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4;
2 Corinthians 5:18-19.
4.
Jesus Christ is now in Heaven preparing a place for
us in His kingdom and we need to believe that He will
come back again in the air for the rapture. At that
moment all His people who have died will be awakened
and all of His people who are still alive will be caught
up (raptured) to meet with Him. At this moment, all
of His people will come and meet Him together in the
air. Later He will come again in person at the Mount
of Olives (Jesus' second coming) to perform judgment
and to build a one-thousand year empire on this earth.
John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:22-24; 1 Thessalonians
4:13-18.
5.
All human beings have sinned against God and have therefore
lost the glory of God. The Holy Spirit moves in His
power and according to the word of God, in order to
cause people to come to the realization that they have
sinned against God and to convict them of that sin,
so that they will ask for forgiveness and repent and
turn from their sinful nature and receive Jesus Christ
as their Lord and Saviour. It is at this point that
the sinner has reconciliation with God - when they accept
salvation totally and are cleansed from all their sins,
sanctified and cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ,
being born again and entering everlasting life. Romans
3:23; Romans 5:21; Romans 6:23; John 3:16; Ephesians
2:8-9.
6.
Each and every human being who receives the salvation
of Christ must be baptized in the name of God the Father,
The Son of God, and the Holy Spirit, by full immersion
in water. Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38.
7.
Each and every believer who has been baptized, must
experience a new life being led by the Holy Spirit and
the word of God so that their life can become a testimony
to the people of this broken and hurting world. It is
important to lead a Godly lifestyle that is holy, full
of power and victory and giving glory to God in every
area of their life. We are always to build a strong
and intimate relationship with God through prayer and
reading the word, always walking with God and building
relationships with other believers in the Church. Ephesians
4:22; 2 Corinthians 5:17.
8.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift from God for
all the believers who are longing and hungry to obey
Him. The sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to
have a new language, given by the Holy Spirit, known
as tongues. Luke 3:16; Acts 2:4; Acts 8:14-17; Acts
10:44-46; Acts 19:1-6. The Holy Spirit also gives gifts
from above known as spiritual gifts that are used to
equip the ministry of the Church and the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11.
9.
The Holy communion that we take is for our communion
with God and communion with one another. Matthew 26:28;
1 Corinthians 11:23-29; 1 Corinthians 10:16.
10.
Salvation is totally from Jesus Christ and is available
to anyone who will trust, receive and accept Him. It
includes the forgiveness of sin, the restoration of
the spirit and soul and also being set free from darkness
as well as obtaining everlasting life.
11.
The Lord wants His people to be blessed and to live
a blessed life. This is determined by our faith toward
God, adherence and acceptance and walking in the truth
(the word of God) which includes: love, forgiving, blessing,
serving, giving, tithing, sharing about Jesus and the
gospel and paying the price for God.
12.
Heaven is an everlasting place for all those who have
believed and put their trust in Jesus Christ during
this lifetime and Hell is an everlasting place of punishment
for the unbeliever. John 5:24-29; Revelation 20:11-15;
Revelation 21:8.
